Children's imaginations will be transported as they enter a kid-sized town where they play out the various roles and jobs that keep a community functioning.
Towns throughout southern Minnesota speak to the shared values, ethics, and culture of our region. Working together, strong families, commitment to community, respect of the land and nature, pride in our heritage, investment in our future and a culture of education are some of the ties that bind our region. Our Town will celebrate this identity with an immersive townscape of the buildings and icons typical of southern Minnesota. Children will role play firefighter, banker, mail carrier, manufacturer, teacher, delivery driver, clerk, boss and employee as they act out the daily functions of community life through cooperative play experiences. Through these experiences, children begin to internalize their role and responsibility to themselves, their family and their community. These experiences will ultimately help children learn how to successfully navigate their world.
