Playdough Play | CMSMatHome

It’s time for a Toddler Wednesday session from the comfort of your home, with #CMSMatHome!

We’re sure you’ve played with playdough before, but have you ever made your own? Let’s mix and measure together, then play and explore.

We’ll need the following:

2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup salt
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 cups lukewarm water
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works as well)

Stir together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a pot, then add water and oil. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the dough has thickened and started forming into a ball. Remove from hea and place on wax paper or into a gallon-sized bag. Once it cools, knead until the dough gets smooth. You can now divide and add colors, if you’d like, and knead inside the bag to avoid staining your hands. Once the color gets mixed in, the playdough is ready!

Use an assortment of items to make imprints or cut shapes. Those can be kitchen utensils, cookie cutters, building blocks, animal toys, shells, bubble wrap…
