Gateway to Play

The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota is guided by a vision to ensure that all children are able to experience the joy of learning through the power of play at the Museum. In order to make that vision a reality for those that may experience barriers to participation, we have developed several approaches to increase access to the Museum.

Gateway to Play Daily Admission Discount

Museums for all

To encourage families of all backgrounds to visit the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota, we have joined forces with Museums for All to offer discounted admission to those who qualify for public income-related assistance.

Show your EBT card (or other public assistance documentation) and a form of identification to receive $3 daily admission for up to 5 people.

Gateway to Play Membership Scholarship

Scholarships For Families

For families who experience barriers to play, we offer options to ensure all children have access to play at the Museum. Qualifying families may receive free or “pay as you are able” Gateway to Play scholarship toward membership. A “barrier” can be many things — income, language, cultural factors, ability, special need, or another special situation. Simply complete this form and survey, bring it to the Museum front desk and stay to play! Applications may also be mailed to the Museum or emailed to: kim.kleven@cmsouthernmn.org

We work with many community impact partners in the Greater Mankato area to ensure all children are able to experience the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota. This includes free family admission passes and a streamlined Gateway to Play membership process for the constituents of organizations serving children and families experiencing participation barriers.

This work is funded in part through grant support provided by U.S. Bank Foundation
