The Children‘s Museum of Southern Minnesota will host a Free Family Play day highlighting Fire Safety Education Day on Saturday, August 19th . During this event, children will learn what to do in the event of a fire, become familiar with emergency equipment and gear, and learn fire safety practices. Several area fire departments will have fire trucks and emergency vehicles on site for kids to explore, as well as the smoke simulator house and Sparky The Fire Safety Dog. Throughout the day we will have activities, crafts, and giveaways too. The Museum will be open from 9-4 and the outdoor Fire Safety event is from 10:00-3:00.

Fire Truck Alley
Fire trucks, ambulances, and first responder vehicles from area communities will be on display adjacent to CMSM for children to explore. Here, they will also learn why each fire department has different colored emergency vehicles.

Smoke Simulator Hours

The Smoke Simulator House teaches children and families how quickly a home can fill with smoke and the importance of acting quickly in an emergency situation.

Sparky the Fire Safety Dog

In addition to area firefighters, EMTs, and other professionals, Sparky the Fire Safety Dog will also be on site to meet with children during this event.
